The Board of Directors of Wisconsin Community Services, Inc. (WCS), announced in February, 2007 that
Ms. Holly Patzer was their choice as the new Executive Director.
Lee Carroll, President of the Board, states,
“After conducting a national search for our new leader, and having interviewed both internal
and external candidates, we are completely satisfied that we have found the best
person for this job. We believe that Holly Patzer will lead WCS to new heights as it nears its 100th anniversary
as the premiere non-profit agency providing community-based justice and treatment
services in southeast Wisconsin .”
Ms. Patzer has been employed at WCS for 13 years and has
most recently been their Administrator for Multi-County Programming, overseeing
12 programs throughout southeastern Wisconsin. Prior to WCS, she worked in the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office,
for the Wisconsin Supreme Court, and she managed a business. Her Bachelor of Science degree from UWM’s School of Social Welfare is in
Criminal Justice; she received a Paralegal Certificate from Concordia University;
she obtained a Professional Certificate for Non-Profit Management from the Helen
Bader Institute for Nonprofit Management at UWM and she has extensive training in
Mediation and Restorative Justice Programming.
Holly Patzer was named a Waukesha Woman of Distinction by the YWCA in 2001, was
appointed to the Waukesha County Criminal Justice Collaborating Council at its inception,
is a member of the Milwaukee County Task Force on Restorative Justice, the Interfaith
Conference of Greater Milwaukee Committee on Restorative Justice and the Wisconsin
Restorative Justice Coalition. She was also the Waukesha Administrator when WCS was named the Waukesha County Non-Profit
of the Year in 2004 by then County Executive, Dan Finley.
For more than ninety years, WCS has served the greater Milwaukee community and is
now serving clients and systems in Waukesha, Sheboygan, and all of southeastern
Wisconsin. The agency is one of the largest non-profits in the country serving this
target population. It is mainly a contract agency, fulfilling contracts with various
counties, State of Wisconsin, and the Federal government. Fund raising opportunities
are listed in another part of the site. United Way of Greater Milwaukee has been
a supporter since 1941. The agency is governed by a non-paid volunteer Board of
Directors, representative of the population that we serve.
She will oversee the $18 million organization with 240 employees and over 40 programs
throughout southeastern Wisconsin, serving more than 20,000 people annually.
After being chosen as the new Executive Director of WCS, Ms. Patzer exclaimed,
”I look forward to the opportunity for us to showcase WCS as the premiere agency for
community alternatives and justice solutions in Wisconsin.
We have a rich history, dedicated staff, outstanding administration, a strong financial base and a sound infrastructure with
significant and vital programs. My plan is to take Wisconsin Community Services to the next level with advocacy and
programming that help reduce violence in our communities and with innovative services
that help our clients overcome adversity.”
Ms. Patzer began her new role in the agency in March, prior to the retirement of Stephen B. Swigart,
WCS’ past Executive Director of nine years.He retired on March 31 after 33 years with the agency.
